Nick Schopp focuses his practice in the areas of banking, real estate, construction, and general commercial litigation, with an emphasis on creditor’s rights. He regularly litigates matters in state and federal courts, and has significant experience advocating on behalf of clients in bankruptcy courts nationwide. Mr. Schopp recognizes that his job as a litigator is rarely complete following entry of a judgment; he understands that a client’s goal is always focused on collection and retention. To this end, he is very aggressive and will do everything in his power to locate and levy upon assets when assets are available. Mr. Schopp has established relationships with commercial litigation and collection attorneys nationwide, and is able to assist clients no matter where a particular debtor is located.

As a complement to his litigation practice, Mr. Schopp regularly works with banks, owners, architects, general contractors, subcontractors, title companies and disbursement agents at the negotiation, drafting and implementation stages of construction contracts and financing arrangements.

Mr. Schopp joined AEGIS Professional Services in 2004 as an associate, and became an equity member of the firm in 2009. He is actively involved in the administration and governance of the firm, and enjoys contributing to the firm’s long term vision and growth strategies.

Prior to his work with AEGIS Professional Services, Mr. Schopp began his legal career in the St. Louis County Counselor’s Office as an Associate Attorney. His role with the County Counselor’s Office was twofold; to act as general in-house attorney for St. Louis County, and to prosecute ordinance violations in the St. Louis County Municipal Court.

In 2001, he received his J.D. and a separate Masters of Law in Taxation (LL.M.) from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law (U.M.K.C.). While at U.M.K.C., Mr. Schopp was a member of the Law Review and the Honor Court, and he graduated with distinction. He has authored numerous articles which have been published in the Journal of the Missouri Bar.

Mr. Schopp is admitted to practice in all Missouri state courts, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Missouri, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois. Nick is also a member of the Commercial Law League of America (CLLA), the leading professional organization of collections, creditors’ rights and bankruptcy attorneys.

Mr. Schopp was born and raised in St. Louis, and presently resides in Creve Coeur with his wife and three sons. He is a member of the Kansas City Barbeque Society, and regularly competes in local, regional and national BBQ competitions under the team name “Sweet Louie’s”, named after his ten year old dog by the same name.
