AEGIS Professional Services is managed by its principal member and founder, Scott Levine. Scott’s practice is dedicated to assisting entrepreneurs, investors, emerging and established businesses with the unique and often challenging issues they meet throughout the formation and growth process: from the protection of intellectual property, to the financing of growth and securities law compliance. He assists clients as they continue to grow and develop, whether this involves merger and acquisition activities, international licensing and distribution arrangements or counseling of directors and officers.
Scott combines his experience with a practical understanding of clients’ business needs. He prides himself on his reputation for being not just a legal adviser but an integral and valuable member of each client’s business team. He invests the time needed be learn each client’s business and industry and to understand the client’s needs and objectives. Working with an extensive network of contacts in the venture capital, investment banking and business communities, he provides guidance to clients regarding potential sources of capital, investment and business opportunities, and management assistance and expertise.
Scott emphasizes regular contact with clients, including attendance at Board meetings, regardless of whether there is an open project. Scott stays informed regarding the business and technological developments affecting firm clients to better anticipate and meet their needs. His goal is to provide practical solutions to client’s business and legal problems in a manner that allows them to focus their time and attention on the important task of growing their businesses.
Scott is an accomplished speaker, speaking regularly to businesspersons and public officials on corporate and employment law concerns and has presented workshops to management on business and employment litigation prevention techniques. Scott also enjoys writing and was recently a co-author of a book, The Positive Power of “No”, in which he wrote on the need for organizations to set strong limits regarding ethical decision-making.
Scott received his law degree from St. Louis University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa. Scott has taught in the graduate business programs of DeVry University, Webster University and the University of Phoenix. He has taught Business law, Entrepreneurship, Negotiations, Employment Law and the Legal, Ethical and Social Dimensions of Business.
In addition be the above, Scott is a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Central Reform Congregation in the City of St. Louis,which was recently selected by Newsweek Magazine as one of “America’s 25 Most Vibrant Congregations”. Scott is a past Board President for Redevelopment Opportunities for Women (ROW), a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing positive change on behalf of homeless, abused, and/or indigent women and families, through a continuum of educational, counseling and support services. Scott is a past Director of St. Louis City CASA (now “Voices for Children”).
